Teacher-Librarians from the Calgary Board of Education

Linda Shantz-Keresztes(B.Ed.,Ed.Dip.) is currently a senior high teacher-librarian with the Calgary Board of Education. Her love of stories began from the oral tradition of storytelling where a “tale well-told is worth its weight in gold.” Ms. Shantz-Keresztes is passionate about avid readers sharing their excitement about “good reads” and was a key player in starting the “Wired for Words Online Youth Book Club.”

Jacquie Vincent (B.A., B. Ed., Ed. Dip., M.Ed.) is currently a learning leader in the Curriculum and Diversity project in the Alberta Initiative for School Improvement. She has been in education for more than three decades and loves working in the school’s best classroom, the library. Reading is a favourite pastime because stories, both fiction and non-fiction explore the world of human experience. Where else could readers meet so many extraordinary individuals in diverse times and places?

Linda Steen (B.Ed., Ed.Dip., M.Ed.) was a school-based teacher-librarian for the Calgary Board of Education for over 30 years. After 14 years at Hawkwood School, she retired in June, 2007 and is now a contract teacher-librarian with the Professional Learning Center at CBE. Her love of being a part of the world of children’s literature continues.

Patricia Farley (B.Ed., M.Ed.) is currently working as the teacher-librarian at Hillhurst Community School. She is the mother of two avid readers and is most comfortable herself with a book in hand. As students at her school know, Mrs. Farley has many favourite books and is really excited about the richness and variety in children's literature today.
